After the war, practiced law in Shelbina, MO; moved to Independence, KS.
Served as State Senator. In 1874 moved to Ft. Scott, KS and engaged in nursery
business with father and brother Julius. They built up the largest nursery
business in U.S.. Later he moved to Denver, CO where he worked with brother J.
H. York in colonization project. They established LaPorte, TX and built
railroad line from Houston to LaPorte.US Census: Scott, B;ourbon, Kansas.
