Elmira Pond was born in Barlow, Washington, Ohio, on the 14th of February 1811. She was the daughter of Thaddeus and Lovisa Miner Pond. In 1829, the family moved to Adams County, Illinois. On 19 June 1831, she married Henry William Miller. In 1839, she became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1841, the family moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, but left Nauvoo with the Latter-day Saints and eventually moved to Utah in 1852. She died on 3 September 1904 in Syracuse, Utah, and was buried at Farmington, Utah.
In her journal, Elmira Pond recorded that she and her husband Henry William Miller received their endowments in the Nauvoo temple. The original journal is contained in a handwritten diary of Henry William Miller's mission to the Cherokee Indians 1855-1856.
