Donald W."Tex" Grim, 77, of 606 E. Pennsylvania Ave., died at 11:30 pm June 9, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born July 9, 1933, south of Bloomfield, to Albert E. and Elizabeth Mae Brown Grim. He married Jeanne Miller Oct. 12, 1952.
A graduate of Milton High School, he farmed for 35 years southwest of Milton; during that time he served his community in many capacities. He and his wife moved to Ottumwa in 1987, where they managed Colonial Motor Inn for 10 years and managed Woodland Apartments for a year.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa.
Tex enjoyed spending time on their farm and enjoyed being with his family and friends, including his Hy-Vee coffee group in recent years.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, Sheryl(Gary)Bishop of Moravia and Joyce(Steve)Mineart of Oskaloosa; a son, Stuart(Lisa)Grim of Ames; five grandchildren, Sara(Kraig)Miller, Julie(Martin)Haverly, Mark Mineart, Elizabeth Grim and Adam Grim; two sisters, Grace Whirrett of Bloomfield and Esther Muntz of Milton.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jane White, Hope Kinsinger and Ann Cone; and a brother, Eugene Grim.
Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will begin at 10 am Monday with the family present from 5-7 pm Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, God's Way Christian Center or Sunnyside Cemetery both in Milton.
