David William MALONEY Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend David W. Maloney born February 5, 1945 in Westerly, RI to May and William Maloney passed away Monday, April 19, 2010. He grew up in Ashway RI, with a brother Phillip and sisters Janice and Joan. After graduating from high school he joined the Coast Guard where he was enlisted for 6 years as an electronics technician and a Chief Petty Officer. David earned a business and accounting degree from the University of Washington and became a CPA. He went onto become a medical clinic administrator for multiple organizations in Wenatchee, Walla Walla and Seattle; an independent consultant and a financial analyst. In 1965 David married Donna Henley; they were married for 33 years and had two daughters, Jody and Dawn. In 2004 he married his friend and love of his life Gloria Shay. David was in Rotary for 32 years and held many different positions and some of his most memorable experiences of his life were spent serving as a Rotarian. In 1994 he went to Cali Columbia on a life changing mission to help organize the medical staff for an open heart surgery team. He later went on medical missions to Pakistan for clef palate, eye orbit and plastic surgery and two trips to Moldova to provide primary medical care to people who couldn't afford it. He enjoyed his volunteer opportunities which included State President WSMGMA, President Ballard Chamber of Commerce, Financial VP Seattle Jaycees, and Manager Seattle Jaycees Bingo. He enjoyed golfing, walking, traveling, reading and woodworking. David is preceded in death by his twin sister Carol Maloney, his brother Phillip Maloney and both parents. He is survived by his wife Gloria, children and spouse's Jody (Joel) Potthoff, Dawn (Mike) Schiller, Brianne Peterson, (Junior Tautolo) and Kris Peterson, siblings Janice Ball and Joan Orowson, step-mother Alice Maloney, 6 grandchildren and numerous extended family. David fought a long and courageous battle with lung cancer where he was an inspiration to many. The family would like to thank all the Drs, nurses and staff at NW hospital who provided such wonderful care to him and our family throughout his journey. Thanks to Cancer Lifeline for all their support. Memorials may be given to Cancer Lifeline or Rotary International. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Wiggen & Sons Mortuary in Ballard, 2003 NW 57th St. Seattle, WA 98107, (206) 782-4700.
