Welda A. "Doug" Laurent Age 83, Indianapolis, passed away February 16, 2005. The son of Welda H. and Bertha E. Barbeau Laurent, Mr. Laurent was born in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois. Doug was a Captain in the 9th Air Force and served honorably in the European Theatre during WWII. A graduate of University of Illinois, Mr. Laurent enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and gardening, and worked as a salesman and banker. He retired in 1984 as a real estate developer. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #153, and the Knights of Columbus. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann Austin Laurent; children, Mark Douglas (Jan) Laurent; daughter, Jean Ann McFarren and James Austin (Tammy) Laurent; 8 grandchildren; 6 nieces and nephews; sister, Bette Stiehl and brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Susan) Austin. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February, 19, 2005 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple, with the calling to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral center. Family will have a private burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
