Death of ELIAS P METCALF. Died at the residence of his son, George P., Thursday morning last. Dr. Metcalf was born in Cooperstown, 1797 and was consequently 76 years old at the time of his death. In 1820 he went to Genoa and in 1822 to Preble, Cortland co., where he built up a large practice. In 1828 he came to this village where he has since resided. During the early years of his practice here he was associated with Dr. ELI HILL. During his twenty years residence he was also in partnership with his brother CHAUNCEY METCALF in the drug and general store business. In about 1856 or '57, Dr. Metcalf retired.9[Mayflower Society, file 3360 has a copy of the newspaper.
Death of an old citizen: On Friday afternoon the funeral of ELIAS P. METCALF was attended from his late residence in this village, where he died two days ago previous. He leaves five children; GEIRGE O, if this village [Geneseo], Mrs. E. A. BACON of Mt.
