Roy grew up in Price and graduated from Carbon High School in 1946. He served an LDS mission to Alberta, Canada. He attended BYU where he played football. Graduated with a degree in business management. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a bishop and counselor in the stake presientcy of Utah West Stake.
