27922. Glenna Deon ERICKSON

Glenna Deon Erickson Wilson
- Obituary Glenna was born May 18, 1925 in Sutherland, Utah. She died from natural causes at the age of 90 on April 7, 2016 in Orem, Utah. Glenna was the oldest child of Eric Golden Erickson and Effie Deon Miner. Her early years were spent in Sutherland, Utah where she matured and helped care for her younger siblings, Stanley (Carole) Erickson, Mignon (Larry) Hatch, Rhea (Sterling) Church, and Ray (Mary Lou) Erickson. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Stanley and Ray.
After graduation from Delta High School, Glenna worked in a radio tube plant in Salt Lake City that supported the war effort during World War ll. Later she attended BYU and also worked a variety of other jobs. After her children were grown, she worked as an elementary school reading resource aid. Glenna was recognized as an especially gifted teacher. She loved the children and was unusually effective in motivating them to improve their reading skills.
Carl G Wilson was introduced to Glenna at a BYU basketball game. A courtship ensued and they eventually married in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 19, 1947. Their first home was in Springville, UT. Later they moved to Provo where they spent most of their married life.
Their three children include two daughters, Maude (David) Parker, DeAnn (Marvin) Sims; and one son, Thayne (Lola Dawn) Wilson. Thirteen grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren received countless hours of instruction, love and service from these devoted grandparents.
Glenna and Carl were nearly inseparable for 62 years before Carl's death in 2009. They raised their family, attended BYU athletic events and spent many happy times together in the outdoors looking for interesting rocks, admiring nature and taking pictures. They also enjoyed living and working at a second home in their later years, the small farm of Carl's childhood in Tridell, Utah. Carl raised cows and Glenna worked on her beloved gardens.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenna served in many callings and loved to sing in the ward choir. She enjoyed poetry, was an excellent homemaker, and was industrious, thrifty, and fiercely independent. There was never an idle moment with her. Glenna was an excellent seamstress but she especially loved to embroider. When she wasn't working in the house or on her gardens, she would be working on a project with a needle and thread. Many family members and friends have been recipients of her handiwork.
Glenna's full and industrious life was spent loving and serving family, friends, and church. She will be greatly missed. We are comforted knowing that she has been reunited with her eternal companion and loved ones that died before her.
Special thanks to Jordan and Emily of Access Hospice Care for their care and compassion.
