was born and found Mathew Miner born 22 Oct. 1780 born Woodbury
Litchfield Conn. his wife was born 26 Feb1789. If the dates are right she
couldn't  be Mathew Miner Henry P's mother. She would have  given birth
at age 11. Something wrong

About 1801 Edward Tupper engaged in ship building in Marietta. The
Orlando was built at the foot of Putnam street. The Orlando went out
under the command of Captain Matthew Miner, and Major Tupper went out
as second officer. the vessel arrived at New Orleans the fourth of July
1804, and found the city in great commotion celebrating the first fourth
of July since the cession of Louisana to the United States Government.
They thencrossed the Atlantic to the Mediterranean sea, up the to
Trieste, at the end of the Adriatic. the ship was sold there.

Mathew died the 23 July 1823. "The sickness of 1823 seemed to be a new
breaking out of that of 1822, but, unlike the epidemic of that year, this
one was not confined  to the water courses or their immediate viinity.
The Spring was pleasant with every prospect of a salubrious summer.
Bbut how sad the dissappointment. The sickness broke out in June and
prevaded nearly all parts of the west. The country was deluged with rain
in June and July, with very little thunder and lightning and no heavy
winds Every spot that could hold water, was filled with it"  " The late
sickness has made great, we had almost said irrepareable, breaches in
society, not only as it respects numbers, but the characters also of those
taken away. Inmany cases children are left without any father or mother"

Henry P. Miner  placed an add in The American Friend and Marietta
