Stephen was a sugar planter at the Concord Plantation in Natchez. He had much
influence with the Spanish and with the Americans. He was appointed Governor
of the Natchez District to settle friction between the two nationalities. He
was the last Governor under Spanish rule. He was know as Don Stephen.

more than likely was BENSON L. (LAURANCE), 1780-90, in Greene Co., PA.

Samuel Minor lived in a brick house near where a great grand daughter, Jessie Dean Stewart, now (1985) resides. She lives by Dunkard Creek, wewst of Pentress, West Virginia, and bricks from his home are often found when the land is cultivated. Samuel was instrumental in building a Baptist Church, possibly located on a farm bottom below the George W. Tennant home near Dunkard Creek. Some of the timbers from the old church were used in the construction of the present home of Jessie Dean Stewart.
