6665. Atwood MINER

Atwood Miner age 24 was found in the 1860 Edwards Co Ill. Mills Prarire
census listed as farm" Labircy"for Rebecca Shoitliff age 23 with a
Harvey age  5 and  Edgar age  9 mo.Atwood listed his place of birth as
Ohio.
Where are the 1870 census ?
Atwood must have lived in Ill. until about 1876 when Eva was born.

In the Morris Co. Kansas 1880 census ,Diamond Valley township Soundex
# 447028Atwoods family was listed :
Miner Atwood     W  M 45  farmer born in Va. father  S.C. mother Oh.

.
The differences in Atwoods place of birth could be in that Washington Co.
Oh.where Marritta is located was originally part of Va. Then at the time
of the Civil War the western counties, of Va. would not succed from the
Union , West Va. was formed . I looked in the W Va records for some
Miners before I found out about the history of the area. There was an M.
Miner and a Peter Miner listed in the Washington Co in the 1800 and 1810
page 102 and 113 on roll TX1810 I havnt looked at the census yet.

Ira grandad's younger brother may not have been born when they moved
,Ira lists his birth place as Ks.( from Ira's obituary he was born at
Diamond Springs Kansas December 15, 1875, at the age of sixteen he
went to Norton Kansas.) So if there was a daughter Eva, she must have
died young.  We know that Atwood married Lucy Stanley in 1861 in
Edwards Co Ill.on the 12 of March. We have the application for the
marriage licence.
They must have lived in Ill. untill after 1876 when Eva was born.
. Information that Thelma recieved in 1952 from National Archives and

During out trip to Ks. in july of 1994 I noticed some one has placed a new

Melvin and Wanda Miner  Ira miners son lives at 28525 Ridgeway Rd. ,
Sweet Home Or. 97386 phone number 503-367-2311
According to Lucy obituary Atwood moved to Logan Ks  area from Morris
co in 1892. According to Ira's obituary that they moved to Norton Kansas
when he was 16 which would have been 1892

Lucy S. STANLEY

Daughter of Francis and Mary Stanley.
Lucy Stanley was found listed in her mothers house hold in 1860 Edwards
Co Ill.census.
Stanley  Mary      Fm       57    farmer       born in Oh.
Stanley Thomas   M        24     farmer        "      "  Ill.
Stanley  Lucy      Fm       20                       "      "   Ill.
Stanley  Luther    M        14                       "       "  Ill.
Stanley Francis   M         13                       "       "  Ill.
Stanley Cynthia  Fm         9                       "       "  Ill.
Stanley Rositta  Fm         1                       "       "  Ill.
Gaylord Jacob      M        81                       "       " Penn.
Gaylord may be a clue as to what  Mary's name was before she married.

The 1850 Edwards Co Ill. Census of Mills Prarie P.O.  on page 264 lists
as follows:
Francis Stanley ( looks more like 12 but probably is 42 male  ) born in
Penn.
Jacob Galer ( probably Gaylord ) 71 Male    born in Penn.
Mary Stanley      Fm 41                born in Ohio
Ruth Stanley      Fm 17                born in Ohio
Thomas Stanley  M  14                 born in ill.
Danial Stanley    M 12                  born in Ill.
Lucy Stanley      Fm 10                 born in Ill.
Rebecca Stanley Fm 10                 born in Ill.
Francis Stanley    M  8                  born in Ill.
George Stanley     M   6                 born in Ill.
Luther Stanley     M   4                 born in Ill.
Sarah Stanley      Fm  1                born in Ill.
It appears that Francis the father died between 1850 and 1860 census
Also note Lucy was a twin. From Thelma's letter of Aug. 20 1995 " Aunt
Becky, twin of Lucy Stanley Miner lived with Lucy and Atwood. I believe
this Rebecca had a child out of wedlock- father could have been Atwood,
or at least mom hinted at this." " Mother was about 10 years old when
Lucy died." " Mother thinks that all the children died while young except
Walter, Fred and Ira"
Lucy was 21 when they married, Atwood was dicharged fron the Army
June of 1865 Lucy was 25, she was 27 when George was born, 28 when
Charles Walter was born, she was 30 when Fred was born, She was 32
when Bert was born, and she was 35 when Ira  was born. She was 35
when they moved to KS, she was 52 when they moved to Norton.
It would be interesting to look at 1870 Edwards Co census.
Need to write to Helen Stanley Evans and let her know who Lucy parents
were.
Lucy was born in 1840, married in 1861, moved to Ks about 1876( they
would have lived in Edwards county Ill about 15 years , log enough to
establish a relation ship with her sisters children maybe ) The Abbott
children gave her a album in 1906 ( 30 years after she left Ill ? )Lucy
died 1908. could look for Abbots in Ks probbably one of her sisters
children Unless Atwood had a sister with children or possibly Aunt was a
courtesy name for a good friend..Lucy and Atwood moved to Logan KS in
1892 according to her obituary( Melvin has it)
From Aunt Ida's stuff Ira's obituary He was born Dec. 15 1875 at
Diamond Springs KS and was 16 when they moved to Norton, so they
moved to Norton probably in 1892

12927. George H. MINER

George Miner is found in the Diamond Springs Kans 1880 census in
Attwood and Lucy Miner 's household.  Who is he ? I do not remember
Granddad talking about him. Could he have been a relative ? His father

submitted by Deanne Douglass ( Aunt Inas grand daughter)

12929. Fred A. MINER

Actual1910 Norton Co. Lincoln township census
