Simeon was an important early citizen of Galena, Ill. He was sheriff of Jo Davies County, Ill, 1858-60; assistant collector of Internal Revenue in 1868; Deputy Provost Marshall of 3rd District. He drew lots with his neighbor General Rowley to determine who shuld enlist in the Civil War and who should remin home to take care of both families. Apparently Simeon stayed home. Simeon often played poker with his friend General U. S. Grant.
The Simeon Miner home in Galena, located at the corner of Dodge and Hill Streets, built in 1849, is open to the public juring the town's annual tour of homes. The home of Pres. Grant is also in Galena.
She was the first school teacher in Nora Township, Jo Davies, Ill.
She had nine children.

No issue. He may have been the land owner of Miner's Hill in the 1920's, the hill where Joseph Smith found the gold plates.
